To one degree or another, it has been done. Keep track of loaned or borrowed albums, rate them, and keep notes.Īlso organize your data or program CDs, cassettes, vinyl, or other tapes and discs. CD Trustee With a computer on nearly every desk, youd think that someone would have (by now) developed an easy-to-use database program for cataloging ones music collection.

Save and print album cover images to insert into jewel cases. Prints dozens of reports of your collection. Prints jewel case inserts and CD labels complete with song lists.Ĭatalogs MP3 and WMA files. Gathers artist, album, song titles and more, automatically! No typing required to build a database of your CDs. It seems that Helium 2 allow to keep track of both CD and MP3/MPC, Im trying it now, it seems very 'heavy' but it is a good tool. For a very good freeware mp3/mpc collection manager, you can go with MAC, a very very good tool. Version: 2.06Īutomatically catalogs your music collection, just by inserting and removing CDs into your computer. I have also tried Music Collector, but I dont like it too much. Gathers artist, album, song titles and more, automatically! Prints CD jewel cases, CD labels, reports. But I figure this type of report would use a couple reems of paper and a few printer cartridges for a thousand plus piece vinyl collection.Automatically catalogs your music collection, just by inserting your CDs into your computer. To be fair both programs also include report formats that print all album info. However, you will have a lot of redundancy, paarticularly if you have a lot of classical albums. You could use any spreadsheet or other flat file data base. I am currently using Visual FoxPro, though when I get the time I will switch over to FileMaker. They do have their advantages in this reguard. I have 8,000 LPs of which 75 are classical. The internet search features on these programs allow for instantly adding most all album info which allows building a collection in a fraction of the time of typing everything into a data base manually. Is anyone familiar enough with either of these programs to know if the printed output described above is possible? Or is the only option to use a data base program as mentioned in a prior post. Gathers artist, album, song titles and more, automatically No typing required to build a database of your CDs. All of predefined report formats seem to be designed for a CD collection played on a 200 disc jukebox or from a hard drive. CD Trustee 2.6: Automatically catalogs your music collection, just by inserting and removing CDs into your computer. In the very limited time I have been playing with this trial version the reports don't appear to be able to be customized. Information for each record would include Album title, year of release, label, cat. The records would be sorted and grouped by artist and listed by year of release. My ideal report would have one printed line per record.

I would like to have a program that allows customized reports or at least reports that are based on vinyl collections. Enter or scan the CD barcode to search our online CD database by barcode (for CDs only). Choose from 3 methods: Just insert the CD to have the program scan its' CD-ID, then use the CD-ID to search our central online CD database (for CDs only). Reports are limited to preset formats in the program. Adding new albums to your personal music inventory is quick and easy. The problem I have with my current program is the format of printed reports. They seem very similar except this program may be a little cheaper. I have been using CDTrustee and just downloaded the trial version of this program.
